The major complaint about audiences in the Telugu film industry is that they are not attending theatres. The directors and producers are constantly complaining that people have stopped turning up at theatres for various reasons. But one major reason for the families staying away from theatres, especially multiplexes, is the prices of Food and Beverages. Now, producer Naga Vamsi also complained that it is not affordable for him as well.

Naga Vamsi is busy promoting his next film, Kingdom, which is heading for a grand release on 31st July. During a recent interview, Naga Vamsi revealed that the prices of cool drinks and popcorn in multiplexes seem costly for him as well. Sharing a recent experience, Naga Vamsi said that it cost him more than 1200 rupees for 2 popcorn and 2 drinks.

Naga Vamsi agreed that it is costly, and he can do nothing about it except for requesting the government to regulate these prices. “We can ask only a few multiplexes but those national chains will not be able to agree to the same. In such cases, we can do nothing about it, and the governments alone can bring in some change,” he said.

The prices, in reality, are really very high. While a ticket costs around 200 rupees per person, buying something at the multiplex will be a costly affair for a family. It is one of the major reasons why the family audiences are habituated to watching films at the comfort of their homes on OTT platforms, rather than going to theatres.

When a producer himself has acknowledged the scenario, needless to say the seriousness of the problem.
