In the film industry, actresses often face unfair labels if their first few movies do not do well. One common tag is calling them ‘Iron leg’ or blaming them for a film’s failure. Interestingly, these labels are rarely used for male actors. Shruti Haasan, also experienced this early in her career.

Despite facing back-to-back failures with her first films, Shruti did not lose opportunities. She got a major break with the film Gabbar Singh, which turned out to be a massive success. This film helped change how people saw her and allowed her to move forward without looking back.

In a recent interview, Shruti opened up about those early days. She thanked Pawan Kalyan and director Harish Shankar for ignoring previous films negativity and casting her in Gabbar Singh. That one film turned her career around.

Shruti said she does not like being called either unlucky or lucky. She wants to be seen simply as an actress who enjoys her work. She added that she loves cinema and feels grateful to the audience for supporting her journey.

Talking about her film 3, which was not a box office hit, Shruti shared that it would have become a big success if it had been released in today’s time when streaming and pan India films are more common. Just like the song Kolaveri Di became a huge hit, she believes the film would have found a bigger audience now.

Shruti is now acting in Rajinikanth’s Coolie where she plays a character named Preethi. She said that while working on a music video, director Lokesh Kanagaraj shared the story with her and confirmed her role on the spot. In the film, she plays the daughter of senior actor Sathyaraj and calls it a special role in her career.
