Hombale Films changed the game for Kannada cinema. With massive hits like KGF and Kantara, they proved that Sandalwood could deliver big films with national appeal. Stars from other industries, including Prabhas and Prithviraj Sukumaran, have shown interest in working with them. They even made a mark in animation with Mahavatar Narasimha.
But now, a new production house from Karnataka is starting to make noise, KVN Productions. Though they are relatively new, their growth has caught the attention of the entire South film industry.
KVN entered production in 2021 with films like Sakkath and By two Love. Both films received average response, but the banner was more focused on distribution during that time. Now things have changed. KVN is investing big and working with top stars across multiple industries.
Their upcoming film Jana Nayagan with Vijay is being called one of the biggest political dramas in recent times. It is said to be Vijay’s final film before his political entry and carries a huge budget. They are also producing Toxic with Yash, and the spending on this project is already creating buzz.
Another project, KD: The Devil starring Dhruva Sarja, features Sanjay Dutt in a key role. This shows KVN is serious about building high-profile content with national appeal. On top of that, they have locked a major action film with Megastar Chiranjeevi and director Bobby. This project is expected to be the most expensive film in Chiranjeevi’s career so far. An official announcement is expected on his birthday, August 22.
According to Bengaluru circles, the total business lined up by KVN Productions is close to two thousand crore rupees. Among Kannada production houses, KVN is now being seen as the next big name after Hombale.
While Hombale Films created a strong foundation for Kannada cinema in the national market, KVN Productions is now aiming even higher with bold choices and massive investments.
