Vijay Deverakonda’s Kingdom released two days ago and opened to mixed reviews from audiences and critics. While reactions to the film’s narrative have been varied, its box office performance has been solid. Trade reports suggest the film is expected to breakeven soon, ensuring safe returns for most buyers.

In a post-release media interaction held in Hyderabad, Vijay confirmed that Kingdom was always planned as a multi-part story. He announced that Kingdom Part 2 is in the works as a direct sequel, while Part 3 will be a prequel set in the 1920s, expanding on the backstory of key characters and the world introduced in the first part.

Vijay also revealed that the team had initially considered naming the film Devara Nayaka, but decided to drop the title after Jr. NTR’s Devara was announced, to avoid confusion among the audience.

Directed by Gautam Tinnanuri and produced by S. Naga Vamsi, Kingdom follows the story of Suri (played by Vijay Deverakonda), an impulsive police constable burdened by a troubled past. Haunted by an abusive upbringing and the disappearance of his elder brother Siva (played by Satyadev), Suri embarks on a covert mission in Sri Lanka. What starts as a personal search soon transforms into a larger discovery, as he inherits a hidden empire left behind by his brother.

The film ends with several unanswered questions, leaving ample scope for future installments. With both a sequel and prequel now officially confirmed, the Kingdom franchise is set to grow into a larger narrative spread across timelines. This marks another step toward franchise-building in Telugu cinema, where long-form storytelling is beginning to find a stronger foothold.
