After months of silence, Devara 2 is finally showing signs of life and fans of Jr NTR have every reason to be excited. Though the first installment directed by Koratala Siva was a major box office hit and one of the top grossers of its year, there had been no official updates about the sequel which sparked doubt about whether the second part would even happen.
But now trusted inside sources confirm that the sequel is very much on track. Koratala Siva and his writing team have reportedly locked the final draft and both Jr NTR and the director are preparing for a detailed narration session soon. With War 2 promotions wrapping up and Prashanth Neel’s film currently paused, the timing seems perfect to get the ball rolling.
Jr NTR is expected to free himself from current commitments by the end of this year. Reports suggest that Devara 2 could begin production in early 2026 around January or February aiming for a grand Sankranti 2027 release. The plan is to complete filming by Dussehra 2026 which gives ample time for post production work.
What is adding fuel to the buzz is the makers’ decision to revisit and refine the entire narrative based on the feedback received for Devara’s second half. This means tighter writing stronger emotional payoffs and answers to the burning questions left unresolved like who attacked Devara how Varun avenges his father’s death what role Saif Ali Khan’s character played and what Bobby Deol brings to the table.
There is also talk that Janhvi Kapoor will have a much more substantial role in the sequel. However final casting and scheduling decisions are still pending and will only be locked in after the shoot timeline is confirmed.
