Popular actress Radhika Apte made allegations on the insensitivity of Bollywood filmmakers during her pregnancy. During a live session of Neha Dhupia’s ‘Freedom to Feed’ show recently, Radhika shared her emotional struggles and the lack of empathy she experienced after announcing her pregnancy in October last year.

Reminiscing about handling professional assignments while dealing with the emotional and physical challenges due to early pregnancy, Radhika revealed that the disheartening response from the Hindi film industry had dampened her excitement during her pregnancy.

Radhika recounted how a Bollywood producer expressed his displeasure about her pregnancy. “His response was cold and he went on to insist that I wear tight costumes even though I was feeling uncomfortable and bloating,” she added. The Rakta Charitra actress furter revealed that the incident took a toll on her emotionally.

Explaining her disheartening experience further, Radhika revealed that she was in her first trimester, and to make matters worse, she was not even allowed to see a doctor when she experienced pain on a film’s set.

Radhika also highlighted the supportive environment on the set of a Hollywood movie. “The Hollywood filmmaker I was working with told me, “Even if you’re another person by the end of this project, it’s fine. Because you’re pregnant.”

Radhika further added that she was not asking for special treatment, but only for kindness and basic humanity. “I understand there are professional commitments, and I’ve always respected that. But a little empathy goes a long way,” she concluded.

Radhika met musician and Bollywood composer Benedict Taylor in London in 2011. The couple tied the knot in March 2013. The actress announced her pregnancy in October last year and went on to share a picture of her newborn baby girl and husband Benedict in December 2024.
