War 2’s Early Morning Shows: Risk or Reward? – FilmShlim

Buzz in distribution circles suggests that War 2 might have special early morning shows in Andhra Pradesh and Telangana, starting as early as 4 AM. While such early screenings are unusual for Hindi films, which typically stick to night-before or morning premieres, the Telugu market has seen massive success with midnight and pre-dawn shows for films like Devara and Pushpa 2.

However, the same strategy didn’t work for Hari Hara Veera Mallu and Game Changer, showing that it’s still a content-dependent approach.

The big question is whether this move is safe for War 2. Despite featuring Jr NTR, it’s still a Bollywood film, and the Telugu audience will be watching a dubbed version. The Bollywood tone might not resonate with everyone, and if the content is even slightly average, early reviews from such high-expectation shows could damage its word of mouth, just as happened with Guntur Kaaram.

There are also logistical hurdles. Yash Raj Films reportedly needs to give the green signal, as early shows in the South mean the film will be screened a few hours before the North Indian release. On top of that, War 2 is clashing with Coolie, and competitive fan wars could lead to negative propaganda.

For now, the strongest support base for War 2 in the South will be Jr NTR’s massive following. If his fans guard the film the way they did with Devara, it could very well turn into a blockbuster in the Telugu market, but the risk of early premieres remains real.
