This Independence Day weekend is shaping up to be a busy one for Telugu moviegoers. Two major releases, War 2 and Coolie, are arriving on August 14, 2025, with heavy anticipation and early morning screenings lined up to grab the holiday audience.
In Andhra Pradesh, festival or holiday releases often come with special permissions for higher ticket prices and early shows, a trend that’s become the norm in recent years. Distributors and theatre owners were waiting for the government’s nod to implement these measures for the big weekend.
On August 12, 2025, the Andhra Pradesh government gave the green signal, approving both special 5:00 AM shows on release day and limited-time ticket price hikes for Coolie and War 2.
For Coolie, handled by Asian Multiplexes, early show tickets will cost ₹75 more in single screens and ₹100 more in multiplexes. This revised pricing will apply not only to the 5:00 AM shows but also to all screenings from August 14 to 23.
For War 2, distributed by Sithara Entertainments, the 5:00 AM show has been fixed at ₹500, GST included. Regular shows from August 14 to 23 will also carry the same ₹75 hike for single screens and ₹100 for multiplexes as Coolie. That means, for both films in Andhra Pradesh during the first 10 days, single screen tickets will be ₹222 and multiplex tickets ₹277.
Telangana, however, is sticking to its regular pricing, ₹177 for single screens and ₹295 for multiplexes, with no approvals for special shows.
With Andhra Pradesh aligning pricing for both films and Telangana keeping it standard, the approach is expected to make advance bookings straightforward and allow theatres to handle the holiday rush more efficiently.
