Superstar Rajinikanth’s Coolie and NTR – Hrithik’s film War 2 will be heading for a pan-Indian clash at the box office. The hype is more in the Telugu states, with the two dubbing films being backed by big banners. Interestingly, the pre-sales are also on par with the expectations of the audience.
Directed by Lokesh Kanagaraj, Coolie managed to sustain the hype and draw mass bookings even in the Telugu states despite clashing with War 2. However, some of the best screens have been allotted to War 2. Even though, the demand for tickets for Coolie is more in the Telugu states, especially in Hyderabad.
On the flip side, the NTR factor is going to boost the bookings of War 2 in the Telugu states. Surprisingly, Coolie is competing with War 2, despite the NTR factor and the film’s promotions.
So far, the trade experts predict that the worldwide advance bookings sales of Coolie registered over 90 Cr rupees. On the flip side, the advance sales of War 2 also registered an amount of over 25 Cr rupees. The sales began actively only yesterday and today will be crucial to predict the day one box office number.
Meanwhile, the North America Premieres Pre Sales of War 2 are at $558.4K from 2036 Shows(11AM PST, Aug 12). There is a good pickup in the sales in the last two days, but still it needs a big push on this last day and a good walk-ins to hit the $1M premiere number. The North America Premieres Pre Sales of Coolie are at $2.145M+ from 1846 Shows(11AM PST, Aug 12). The film already registered the Highest Premiere Pre Sales for a Tamil Film.
On the whole, Coolie looks unstoppable, and the buzz is growing around the film. However, War 2 is currently a bit behind in hype. Coolie has multiple talking points. Whether it’s director Lokesh, the Rajini factor, Nagarjuna’s presence, Anirudh’s music, or its multi-star cast, the excitement is naturally high. War 2, on the other hand, is drawing attention mainly for NTR’s Craze & Hrithik’s presence. While it follows a commercial action drama format with a Bollywood style, it still has the potential to create buzz if the early word of mouth strike the right chord.
