Of late, many filmmakers are implementing de-ageing technology in movies to make actors look younger. In Hollywood, films like The Irishman (Robert De Niro), Captain Marvel (Samuel Jackson) and Gemini Man (Will Smith) used this technology to make actors look young.
In India, we have seen this technique being implemented for various movies like Kalki 2898 AD (for Amitabh Bachchan’s character), Fan (Shah Rukh Khan), Laal Singh Chaddha (Aamir Khan) and Acharya (Chiranjeevi).
Most of the times, the de-ageing look of actors in Indian movies receive criticism due to the poor way of using the de-ageing technology. Probably, Coolie has become the first movie which generated a huge buzz for Rajinikanth’s de-aged look.
Many people who watched the film opined that the de-aged look of Rajinikanth came out very well and added that it is persuading them to watch the film once again, only to experience the actor in that digitalized look. Director Lokesh Kanagaraj took utmost care in bringing out the most authentic and stylish vintage look of Rajini through de-ageing technology.
These flashback scenes were portrayed Rajini in a vintage, stylish avatar. The sequences of him smoking a beedi, walking with swag and curling his hair stylishly are making fans woot in theatres.
Netizens have been widely discussing and appreciating Lokesh’s exemplary work in de-ageing Rajinikanth in the film. Also, music director Anirudh is being lauded for composing a stunning background score for these sequences.
