Of late, we have seen a few small films opting for selected paid premieres a day or two ahead of the release, to garner positive word of mouth from critics and audiences. These selected paid premieres help generate good buzz on social media for those films ahead of their wide theatrical release. Films like Samajavaragamana, Court, 35 and others opted for these paid premieres ahead of their theatrical release.
Now, another small film is taking this bold movie. Paradha, starring Anupama Parameswaran, Darshana Rajendran and Sangeetha in the lead roles, is opting for a paid premiere two days ahead of its release. As of now, the makers are holding two paid premiere shows in AAA Cinemas and AMB Cinemas in Hyderabad. With this bold move, it remains to be seen if Paradha generates a good buzz among the audiences ahead of its release.
Touted to be a social drama, this female-oriented film is directed by Praveen Kandregula of Cinema Bandi and Shubham fame. Generally, the market of female-oriented films has fallen drastically in Telugu cinema over the last few years. However, Praveen doesn’t want to call it a female-oriented film and is highly confident of its success. Maybe that confidence is pushing makers to go for early paid premieres. We have to see how Paradha fares with these premieres tonight. If it manages to get a good talk, it may pave path for more small and female-oriented films in Telugu cinema and also continue the trend of holding paid premieres for small films to generate good buzz.
