Like how Sankranthi and Diwali are biggest festivals at the box office for the Telugu and Tamil audiences respectively, the Onam weekend is special for the Malayalam audiences. This Onam, four interesting films are gearing up to theatres offering a blissful vibe. Stars like Mohanlal, and Fahadh Faasil will compete with one another in this box office clash.

Take a look at the films releasing in theatres.

August 28th, 2025:1. Hridaya PoorvamStarring Mohanlal in the lead role, the film’s teaser caught the attention of audiences already. The film also takes a funny jibe at Mohanlal’s competition with Fahadh who is also coming up with Odum Kuthira Chaadum Kuthira this Onam. Also starring Malavika Mohanan, the film is directed by Sathyan Anthikad who is known for making feel good films. The film revolves around Sandeep, a heart-transplant survivor, who attends his donor’s daughter Haritha’s engagement, but an unplanned stay draws him closer to the family. As weeks pass, he feels his new heart beating for Haritha.

2. Lokah Chapter 1: ChandraLokah is Malayalam’s first ever female centric super hero film, infused with all the regional elements that Malayalees would find interesting. Starring Kalyani Priyadarshan and Naslen in the leads, the film is directed by Dominic Arun. Dulquer Salmaan is presenting the film. The film revolves around a young woman who uncovers mystical skills while facing personal hurdles. Meanwhile, as evil surfaces, she must embrace her powers and fate in a shifting world.

August 29th, 2025:1. Odum Kuthira Chaadum KuthiraFahadh Faasil joins the Onam box office race with the film Odum Kuthira Chaadum Kuthira. The film is billed to be a romantic comedy, directed by Althaf Salim. Kalyani Priyadarshan plays the female lead in the film. The trailer already generated a curisoity among the audiences. The film’s plot is: Jilted at his wedding, Aby encounters a reserved woman needing help. As they heal together, his ex returns with newfound insight into his dreams. A hidden truth leads Aby to find peace.

2. Maine Pyar KiyaIt’s again a romantic comedy, starring Hridhu Haroon and Preity Mukundhan in the lead roles. Directed by Faizal Faziludeen, the film features relatively lesser-known actors compared to the other three Onam releases. The film’s plot is: Searching for Nidhi in Madurai’s streets, Aryan faces mounting danger and tension at every turn. Time runs short as he navigates growing chaos to stay alive.

The big competition will be between the films, Mohanlal’s Hridayapoorvam, Kalyani’s Lokah and Fahadh’s Odum Kuthira Chaadum Kuthira.
