When Baahubali: The Beginning was released in 2015, it was a significant moment in Indian cinema history, bringing Telugu cinema to an international audience with the film being the first Telugu film to break into mainstream cinema. Its sequel, Baahubali 2: The Conclusion, released in 2017, went on to rewrite the record books at the box office. The two-part saga had a profound impact on Indian filmmaking in terms of storytelling, scale, state-of-the-art visual effects , and reach across the country.
Ten years on, the Baahubali franchise still has cultural resonance. Many people have rewatched the films on television and OTT platforms, yet seeing Baahubali on the big screen could never be replaced. Its scale of world-building, characters , and ambition provided a once-in-a-generation experience.
On the tenth anniversary of Baahubali: The Beginning, director SS Rajamouli and producer Shobu Yarlagadda have announced a brand new Baahubali film called Baahubali: The Epic. This is not a re-release of Baahubali: The Beginning or Baahubali: The Conclusion. Rather, the director has cut both films together as a singular narrative and plans to showcase it as a new theatrical experience. The worldwide release date looks to be October 31, 2025, during Prabhas’ birthday week.
The teaser, which released recently, has been called the best visually ready version of Baahubali yet. The film has been recut and remastered , and rumors have circulated that CGI enhancements are being made for areas where the original versions fell short . Industry insiders say that some new scenes will likely be included, although the production team has not disclosed any information on this. Rajamouli himself emphasized this approach and noted, “Both Baahubali films were conceived to be one story, but it was too big to fit into one film. For the 10th anniversary , I didn’t want to give audiences what they have already seen. I wanted to create a new experience.”
Baahubali: The Epic will be available in premium formats such as IMAX, 4DX, D-BOX, EPIQ , and Dolby Cinema. As the film has been enhanced with improved visual effects, storytelling structure, and more, the aim of this project is for a true release all over the world. For audiences, this is going to be the return of Baahubali to the big screen, rebuilt as an epic, not a re-release.
