It’s been more than three years since we saw Pooja Hegde in a Telugu film. There are many reasons for it, but Pooja is now back to Tollywood with the upcoming film, featuring Dulquer Salmaan in the lead role. In the recent past, Pooja bagged a lot of negativity for the kind of roles she is picking up. Especially, after the failure of Retro, many thought that she would not bag an offer immediately.
Pooja Hegde earned recognition and further achieved stardom through Telugu films only. Although she did Oka Laila Kosam and Mukunda, neither of the films helped her earn recognition. But it was DJ who put her in the commercial game. Eventually, the success of Maharshi and Aravinda Sametha Veera Raghava made her a star heroine. Finally, with Ala Vaikunthapurramulo, she garnered the top position. However, her career witnessed a downfall after that.
Most Eligible Bachelor, Radhe Shyam, Beast, and Acharya ended as flops. She briefly moved to Bollywood and did Kisi Ka Bhai Kisi Ki Jaan but it also disappointed the audiences. Cirkus and Deva also could not revive her career. Retro which was supposed to be her South comeback also ended with a negative result.
Monica song from Coolie brought her back in the game, with Jana Nayagan in the offing. At this juncture, grabbing a film with Dulquer Salmaan looks like a positive thing for her. Dulquer is a lucky charm for many heroines. Mrunal Thakur, and Meenakshi Chaudhary who worked with Dulquer went on to earn huge name in Telugu. Pooja is already a established heroine but if DQ’s charm works, she can comeback to success in style.
Going by the look the the makers of DQ41 released today, Pooja seems to be playing a girl next door with simple looks. Directed by a newcomer Ravi Nelakuditi, the film is bankrolled by SLV Cinemas.
Hope Pooja scores a success with this film and if Jana Nayagan becomes a hit in January, it will be a big boost to her career.
