Prabhas’ Kalki 2898 AD showcased Amitabh Bachchan in the powerful role of Ashwatthama, which turned out to be one of the film’s biggest highlights. Though Amitabh had earlier acted in Telugu films like Sye Raa, the kind of impact he created in Kalki was on another level. His excitement for the project was evident as he actively spoke about it during promotions, on social media, and in interviews. This built a strong rapport with producer Ashwini Dutt, director Nag Ashwin, and Prabhas himself. With Kalki 2, Amitabh’s importance is expected to grow further alongside Kamal Haasan.
Meanwhile, fresh buzz from Mumbai suggests that Bollywood actor Abhishek Bachchan is being considered for a crucial role in Prabhas’ upcoming film Fauji (working title). Director Hanu Raghavapudi has reportedly approached him, and while there’s no official confirmation yet, inside talk is that Abhishek has responded positively.
This role is said to be pivotal to the storyline, much like Sumanth’s memorable role in Sita Ramam. It will reportedly have a strong influence on Prabhas’ love story in the film. After evaluating several options, the makers believe Abhishek would bring the right depth to the character. If all goes well, an official announcement could be made soon.
Following The Raja Saab in January, Fauji will be Prabhas’ next release. The film has already completed more than half its shoot, though the release date is yet to be finalized. Director Hanu Raghavapudi is presenting an intense love story set in the British era during the freedom struggle, showcasing Prabhas in a shade never seen before.
Backed by Mythri Movie Makers on a massive budget and with music by Vishal Chandrasekhar, Fauji is eyeing a festival release around Dussehra or Diwali 2026.
