Mohanlal presents an interesting period drama that appears to incorporate a reincarnation element. Titled Vrusshabha, the film is being made in both Malayalam and Telugu on a grand scale. It’s been a while since Mohanlal has done a film like this in the recent past, and the fans are expecting an action spectacle. The team released a teaser today.
Going by the teaser, it reminds us of Magadheera and similar films. The technicalities are super strong and it gives us a feel that Malayalam cinema also will go pan-India in a big manner, with this prestigious movie. The film’s plot has been kept under wraps but there seems to be a strong revenge angle in it.
Mohanlal’s last three movies this year are Empuraan, Thudaram, and Hridayapoorvam. Despite receiving mixed reviews, Empuraan ended up as an all-time industry hit for Malayalam cinema. Thudarum is hugely successful at the box office. But, Hridayapoorvam did not do as per the expectations. At a time when Malayalam films are surprising with their minimal budgets and maximum profits, a film like Vrusshabha can take advantage of this situation to bring more attention to the Malayalam industry.
Vrusshabha carries a unique story brought to life through an unforgettable cinematic experience for global audiences. With Mohanlal playing a king for the very first time in a bilingual epic, the film was shot simultaneously in Malayalam and Telugu. It will be dubbed in Hindi and Kannada later.
Produced by Shobha Kapoor, Ektaa R. Kapoor, C.K. Padma Kumar, Varun Mathur, Saurabh Mishra, Abishek S. Vyas, Praveer Singh, Vishal Gurnani, and Juhi Parekh Mehta, Sam CS is the film’s music director. Nanda Kishore and team wrote and directed the movie.
The film is scheduled for a grand release during Diwali 2025.
