Bandla Ganesh and his speeches during the film promotional events are a form of entertainment for movie lovers. As Pawan’s fans are eagerly waiting to witness his energetic speech at the pre-release event of OG, the producer surprised many by attending the success meet of Little Hearts. At the event, he dropped several truth bombs on how the film industry functions.
Bandla Ganesh has exaggerated a few things and gave some over the top statements to keep the energy running at the event, but of all he spoke, what made sense is the industry’s obsession with 500 Cr films and 1000 Cr films. Bandla Ganesh stated that the industry bigwigs, including him, must learn how to make a film with such a minimal budget of 2.5 Cr rupees and ring in a resounding success.
Also, what truly made sense is the acknowledgement of the reality that people have come to theatres at a time when the producers and filmmakers are complaining about the audiences not turning to theatres. In the recent past, we have seen a lot of producers complaining that the footfalls have come down, and OTT platforms are booming. But, Little Hearts witnessed fulls from paid premieres itself, which says that the viewers want to be engaged with fun and entertaining content rather than witnessing routine commercial films on big screens.
Not just Little Hearts but the audiences showed interest in watching Lokah, Kishkindhapuri and Mirai. Altogether, the theatrical business of Telugu states is on the rise once again from the last one month. Having said that, the filmmakers must realise the fact that the audiences are always willing to come to theatres, provided what is being offered to them. Even if it is a big star-driven film, the audience would come to the theatres only if the content is engaging. It is the sole reason why Coolie, War 2, and other big films flopped at the box office.
Bandla Ganesh made it clear that the film industry needs a film like Little Hearts for at least a month, which will not only generate revenues but keep people habituated to come to theatres. The industry does not need to generate 500 Cr films and 1000 Cr films at the moment, and what is more important is to bring audiences to theatres. Those films that succeed in achieving this will remain in history, while all other films will be forgotten.
As the audiences started looking at theatres currently, we hope that the hiked ticket prices for some films will not push them back to watch films at the comfort of their homes because it needs a lot more effort to pull viewers back with multiple options of entertainment being made available to them.
On the whole, Bandla Ganesh reflected the opinion of the majority of the film industry that is still in awe of how a 2.5 Cr film minted a revenue of 35 Cr in no time.
At the end of the day, Telugu cinema is all about good cinema and we hope such films rule the roost.
