Rishab Shetty is one of the popular actors in the country who shot to fame with the film Kantara. However, his speech at the pre-release event of Kantara: Chapter 1 last night received a huge backlash. The actor spoke in Kannada at the event, which did not go well with the fans and audience.

Rishab Shetty gave a disclaimer that he would speak in Kannada, as that would help him speak with his heart. However, for the convenience of the audience, he could have spoken in English, but he did not. The fans on social media are arguing that the Kannada people and Kannada film industry stress the use of Kannada language in their state, and how come Rishab can not respect the native language of the Telugu states.

Kannada and Telugu languages are alike, and Rishab could choose to use some Telugu in his speech, but he continued to speak in Kannada alone without using any English words. Rishab is not very fluent in Telugu and English, and because of this, he tried to speak in Kannada.

However, the audience is deeming it as a disrespectful gesture towards Telugu audiences. Many argue that just because Telugu audiences are welcoming, the actors can not take them for granted.

During the KGF events, Yash made an attempt to try and speak in Telugu. Many other Kannada actors, like Shiv Rajkumar and other heroines, also speak in Telugu when it comes to promotional events.

Kantara: Chapter 1 is hitting the screens on October 2nd.
