The Archery Association of India officially launched the inaugural edition of the APL, Archery Premier League, on Thursday in New Delhi. Forty-eight archers, including 36 Indian and 12 foreign players, were picked by six franchises to form competitive squads for the first season.

Ram Charan attended the launch and unveiled the league. Speaking to the media, he said archery is an important part of Indian culture and history. He expressed pride in being the brand ambassador of the league.

He also added that this is the first time an archery league is being introduced in India. Charan also shared a personal connection, recalling how he played an archer in his film RRR.

Actor Randeep Hooda was also present at the event. He said the APL will give young players international exposure and added that he is proud to be associated with the Delhi-based team, Prithviraj Yodhas.

The president of the Archery Association of India, Arjun Munda, said the league’s aim is to bring hidden talent to the forefront and prepare athletes for future Olympics. He added that a foreign coach will be appointed for the Indian team, keeping the 2028 and 2032 Games in mind.

Ram Charan’s portrayal of Alluri Sitarama Raju in RRR, where he played an archer, brought him international acclaim. His association with the Archery Premier League a fitting continuation of that connection.
