In a shocking move, the Karnataka Pollution Control Board (KSPCB) has issued an immediate closure notice for the popular reality show Bigg Boss Kannada’s house located in Bidadi, Bengaluru South. Bigg Boss Kannada is being hosted by Sandalwood star Sudeep.
The KSPCB’s closure notice, issued on October 6, states that Vels Studios and Entertainment Private Limited, operating under the name Jolly Wood Studios and Adventures, has failed to comply with the stipulated environmental rules and regulations. Violations under both the Water (Prevention and Control of Pollution) Act, 1974, and the Air (Prevention and Control of Pollution) Act, 1981, have been found during the investigation.
The KSPCB has directed the studio to submit an explanation regarding the violations. The KSPCB cited that the studio has been carrying out large-scale entertainment and production activities without obtaining a valid ‘Consent for Establishment and Consent for Operation’ under the above-mentioned environmental acts. Following the studio’s failure to obtain the necessary permissions, the KSPCB carried out swift action to halt all operations at the studio.
The KSPCB has also instructed the Deputy Commissioner of Ramanagara District, the MD of BESCOM, and local electrical officers to oversee the enforcement of the order. This first-of-its-kind development highlights the Karnataka government’s efforts to ensure compliance with environmental standards for high-profile entertainment projects like Bigg Boss Kannada.
