Controversial star couple Shilpa Shetty and Raj Kundra are striking headlines once again, with the Bombay High Court passing a verdict about them depositing 60 crores rupees if they wish to travel outside India. Already, there has been a Look Out Circular against them, and in view of the same, the court also informed that it will not be paused.
The verdict stems from a case filed against the couple in connection with an alleged fraud of 60 Cr rupees. The Economic Offenses Wing (EOW) of Mumbai Police is investigating the case after it received a complaint from Deepak Kothari, a 60-year-old businessman from Mumbai.
Deepak, who works as a director of Lotus Capital Financial Services, claimed that between 2015 and 2023, the couple used the money he gave them to grow their business for their personal expenses. The police officials and the EOW officials found out that Deepak’s funds had been misused, and hence, the couple is booked under several sections.
An FIR has been filed against Shetty, Kundra, and an unidentified associate under sections 403 (dishonest misappropriation of property), 406 (criminal breach of trust), and 34 (common intention) of the Indian Penal Code. A Look Out Circular has also been issued, asking the couple to not travel outside India.
