SS Rajamouli, known for Baahubali and RRR, is teaming up with Mahesh Babu for his next film, currently titled #Globetrotter and also referred to as SSMB 29. The shoot will span multiple countries, including African forests, along with elaborate sets in Hyderabad.
A major set replicating Varanasi has been built at Ramoji Rao Film City. The set reportedly cost around Rs 50 crore. Key scenes are set in Varanasi, but the team avoided shooting there to manage crowds.
The project is being kept under wraps. No posters or teasers have been released yet. On Mahesh Babu’s birthday in August, the team confirmed the first glimpse will arrive in November 2025. The poster featured Mahesh Babu wearing a pendant with Nandi, Trishul, and Damarukam, linked to Lord Shiva.
There are reports that the film’s official title could be VARANASI, with confirmation expected in November. Speculation suggests Hollywood director James Cameron may unveil the first look during his India visit for Avatar: The Fire and Ash promotions.
The film also stars Priyanka Chopra and Prithviraj Sukumaran. KL Narayana produces under Durga Arts, while MM Keeravani handles the music. #Globetrotter is set to release in 120 countries on March 25, 2027.
