Tabu is one of the most versatile performers in Indian cinema, known for her work across multiple languages. She appeared in several Telugu films in the 1990s and early 2000s, but she is best remembered for her pairings with Nagarjuna.
She was part of his films Sinsindri, Aavida Maa Aavide, and the blockbuster Ninne Pelladatha. Despite their long friendship, the duo has not acted together in the last three decades. Now, they are finally coming together in a film.
Except for Ala Vaikunthapurramuloo, Tabu has rarely appeared in Telugu cinema over the past two decades. She is reportedly returning to Telugu films with Nagarjuna’s prestigious 100th project. While the makers have not yet officially announced the project, the film recently had a launch and has begun shooting.
Here’s the twist: although Tabu was often cast as a romantic interest to Nagarjuna in her earlier films, #King100 will be different. She will play a key, non-romantic role that is crucial to the story. The female lead of the film has not been finalized yet.
In addition to Nagarjuna’s film, Tabu has also signed Puri Jagannadh’s upcoming Telugu film Slumdog, starring Vijay Sethupathi and Samyukta Menon. She will play an important character in that film. After almost two decades, Tabu is now signing back-to-back projects in South Indian cinema.
The 100th film is tentatively titled #King100, with music reportedly by Devi Sri Prasad. Rumors suggest the action drama could be called Lottery King. The official announcement, along with full cast and crew details, is expected soon.
