Hanu Raghavapudi, who made the memorable love story Sita Ramam in 2022, is now working on a period drama set in the 1940s, before Independence. The film stars Prabhas in the lead.

For now, the team is keeping updates limited as Prabhas’ The Raja Saab is gearing up for release soon. They don’t want to divert attention from that film. However, sources say the shoot for #PrabhasHanu is moving at a steady pace.

Around 60% of the filming is done. Prabhas, who’s shooting for The Raja Saab and this film simultaneously, has completed most of his part. Only about 35 days of his schedule are left.

The makers are planning to release the film during the Independence weekend in 2026. The tentative date is Friday, August 14. It’s a fitting slot for a large-scale period film like this. Prabhas, who won’t have a release in 2025, is expected to arrive with two major films in 2026 – The Raja Saab and Fauji, the rumored title of the Hanu film.

There’s also talk that Hanu Raghavapudi is exploring the idea of a prequel, given the growing interest in franchise storytelling.

The film marks the debut of Imanvi as the female lead, with Mithun Chakraborty, Anupam Kher, and Jaya Prada in important roles. It is produced by Mythri Movie Makers, and the music is by Vishal Chandrashekhar.

On the work front, after The Raja Saab and Fauji, Prabhas will move on to Spirit, directed by Sandeep Reddy Vanga. Later, he’s expected to collaborate with Hanuman director Prasanth Varma and also work on sequels to Salaar and Kalki.
