Ram Pothineni’s next film, Andhra King Thaluka, is hitting the screens towards the end of next month. But the makers released the film’s teaser today, which has got a lot of interesting elements in it. The film tells the story of a fan boy who goes all out for a superstar, but in reality, the superstar does not give a damn about the emotional fan.
Kannada hero Upendra plays the Andhra King in the film, and the teaser hints at why the makers did not approach a Telugu hero for this role.
Interestingly, there was a speculation earlier that Superstar Rajinikanth was approached for this role. However, despite liking the script, Rajini reportedly refused to do the movie. Now that the teaser is out, we understand the reason behind the same.
Apparently, the Andhra King character, which represents a star hero in the film industry, has grey shades. The character will be projected in a negative light, and if a Telugu star hero plays it, that may impact their existing image or could also draw negativity. All this is a mere assumption, but in a film industry where stereotypes and sentiments work out big time, the stars also do not want to come out of their comfort zone.
When it comes to Upendra, he earned the tag – versatile actor in the initial days of his career. People would surely accept him in grey shades without much explanation or explanation about it on the screen. Even then, some audiences think that the team could have taken a Telugu actor, but the role demands an actor with stature, and only a few options are available on those lines.
Directed by Mahesh Babu P, the film also features Bhagyashi Borse as the female lead.
