Sankranti is usually a high-stakes release season in Tollywood because all films witness huge footfalls during the festival week. This is why filmmakers announce their release plans well in advance to stay in the race despite hectic competition. Every year, a bunch of movies release during the biggest Telugu festival and amass solid revenues.

Just like the previous years, the upcoming Sankranti festival will also witness a jam-packed season with a flurry of big-ticket releases. Already, highly anticipated films like The Raja Saab, Mana Shankar Vara Prasad Garu, Anaganaga Oka Raju and Raviteja 76 have been confirmed to set the box office of fire by taking advantage of the festival atmosphere. Also, Tamil biggie Jana Nayagan is in the fray as well.

Every Sankranti festival can generally accommodate a couple of big-budget films and a couple of medium or low budget films. Anything beyond this will impact the collections even if films get positive talk because of shortage of screens and other factors. So, Tollywood generally witnesses not more than three or four releases for Sankranti.

Despite so much competition, 2026 Sankranti is still getting overcrowded as filmmakers are blindly locking the release dates one after another. Already four Telugu films and one Tamil movie have to compete for screens.

Meanwhile, Sharwanand’s Nari Nari Naduma Murari has also joined the race. The team announced their release plans for Sankranti today. This means a total of five telugu films and one tamil film will scramble for screens across both Telugu states within a span of one week, which will definitely affect the revenues regardless of the word of mouth.

Though it is still unclear which of these films will back out from the race, but trade circles believe that it would be an ideal decision if at least a couple of them opt for new release dates and avoid clash during the festival season.
