Veteran Kannada actor Harish Roy passed away in Bengaluru on Thursday, November 6. He had been battling thyroid cancer for the past few years and was under treatment at Kidwai Cancer Hospital. Despite regular medical care, his condition worsened in recent months.
Harish Roy started his acting journey in the early 1990s and went on to become one of Kannada cinema’s most familiar faces. Audiences remember him for his powerful performances in films like Om, Nalla, Raj Bahaddur, Sanju Weds Geetha and especially the KGF series.
In his final years, Harish Roy spoke openly about his health struggles and the financial challenges that came with them. Many from the film industry, including KGF star Yash extended support to help with his treatment.
Over three decades, Harish Roy was known for playing tough characters on screen but was described as gentle and humble in real life. His passing has left the Kannada film fraternity deeply saddened.
Friends, colleagues, and fans have shared their condolences, remembering him as a sincere actor who never gave up, even when life tested him. Harish Roy is survived by his wife and two sons. His final rites will be held in Bengaluru.
