Bhagyashri Borse has become one of the most talked-about new faces in Telugu cinema. Her debut film Mr. Bachchan released only last year, but she has already signed multiple projects across languages. Though Mr. Bachchan and Kingdom didn’t perform well at the box office, her popularity hasn’t slowed down.
Her upcoming project is Kaantha, a Tamil period thriller set in the 1950s Madras film studio backdrop. The film stars Dulquer Salmaan and is produced by Rana Daggubati under Spirit Media and Wayfarer Films, along with Prashanth Potluri and Jom Varghese. Directed by Selvamani Selvaraj, Kaantha also features Samuthirakani and Bhagyashri in key roles. The trailer was launched on Thursday in Hyderabad. The film hits screens on November 14.
Speaking at the event, Rana Daggubati revealed that Bhagyashri was chosen for Kaantha after director Selvamani Selvaraj auditioned more than a hundred actresses. “Kaantha was actually supposed to be her debut film,” Rana said. “Due to production delays, her other films released first. But it’s nice to see her getting recognition before our film releases.”
Dulquer Salmaan echoed Rana’s words. “We discovered Bhagyashri first,” he said. “The Kaantha team takes credit for finding her talent. Even though she debuted elsewhere, it’s great to see how well audiences have received her.”
Bhagyashri said she’s excited to be part of Kaantha and believes it will mark a new phase in her career. “What people have seen so far is just the beginning. With Kaantha, I’ve been able to show what I can truly do as an actor,” she said.
On the work front, Bhagyashri will next be seen in Andhra King Taluka, which releases on November 28, followed by Lenin alongside Akhil Akkineni.
