Ram Charan’s upcoming film Peddi, directed by Buchi Babu Sana and co-starring Janhvi Kapoor, is turning out to be one of the most anticipated Telugu films in recent times. With AR Rahman scoring the music, the expectations around the film are sky-high.
On Saturday, Rahman performed live in Hyderabad, and in a surprise to the audience, Ram Charan, Janhvi Kapoor, and director Buchi Babu Sana joined him on stage. Their unexpected appearance created a huge roar among fans and became one of the biggest highlights of the evening.
The first single, Chikiri Chikiri, which was released on November 7, has taken the internet by storm. Within 24 hours, the song clocked a record-breaking 46 million views across all versions on YouTube, setting an all-time record for an Indian song. The Telugu version alone drew 32 million views, while the Hindi dubbed version crossed 10 million, making it the most-viewed Hindi dubbed Telugu song in a single day. Sung by Mohit Chauhan, the song’s catchy tune and hook step have gone viral.
Speaking at the concert, Ram Charan said he was thrilled to be part of Rahman’s live show and thanked the audience for their love towards the song. “It was my childhood dream to work with Rahman sir, and it’s finally happening with my favourite subject, Peddi,” Charan said, adding that this project holds a special place in his heart.
Peddi is said to be a semi-period sports drama set in the Uttarandhra region, blending raw emotion with commercial appeal. The story revolves around the character of Peddi and his emotional journey, with Buchi Babu promising a rooted yet grand cinematic experience.
Peddi stars Ram Charan, Janhvi Kapoor, Shiva Rajkumar, Jagapathi Babu and Divyendu Sharma. It is produced by Venkata Satish Kilaru under Vriddhi Cinemas, in association with Mythri Movie Makers and Sukumar Writings. The film is written and directed by Buchi Babu Sana, with music by AR Rahman. Peddi is slated for a grand theatrical release on March 27, 2026.
