Sakshi, the mouthpiece of former CM YS Jagan Mohan Reddy, continues its routine criticism of CM Chandrababu Naidu and Deputy Chief Minister Pawan Kalyan.

In its latest report, Sakshi has raised concerns over the Kunki Elephants project, a wildlife initiative taken up by Deputy CM Pawan Kalyan. The project involved bringing trained elephants from Karnataka to Andhra Pradesh to help tackle the issue of stray wild elephants, especially in Chittoor district, which has been facing serious problems like crop damage and even human casualties due to elephant intrusions.

However, Sakshi has now claimed that the Kunki elephants brought under this project are allegedly unfit for duty. According to their report, one elephant is blind, another is mentally unstable, and the remaining two are also not suitable for fieldwork.

These claims are now being widely circulated on social media platforms associated with the YSR Congress Party, with many using this narrative to target Deputy CM Pawan Kalyan.

While political criticism is common, observers point out that criticizing an effort aimed at solving a genuine problem by undermining the animals involved may not send the right message. The Kunki project was intended as a practical response to a sensitive issue, and dismissing it without constructive analysis may do more harm than good.
