Generally, these days we are seeing big fat weddings almost everywhere. These ceremonies are usually luxurious and lavish, especially when it comes to politically influential and financially strong families. But here is a case of a senior politician from Andhra Pradesh who chose a rather simple engagement ceremony for his daughter.
The senior leader in question is Nimmala Rama Naidu, a two-time MLA from Palakollu. More importantly, he is currently the Irrigation Minister and holds one of the crucial positions in the Andhra Pradesh cabinet.
Despite his stature, the minister opted for a very simple engagement ceremony for his daughter, which was attended by some of the biggest names in AP politics. Leaders like Nara Lokesh, Atchannaidu, the Assembly Speaker and Deputy Speaker, AP Ministers, and several other key figures were present at the event held yesterday.
What drew attention, however, was the simplicity of the arrangements. Many onlookers remarked that the event looked just like any other middle-class family’s function, rather than that of a cabinet minister’s, as there were no extravagant or over-the-top theatrics.
Another interesting highlight was Rama Naidu’s choice of attire. He was seen wearing his trademark yellow shirt at the engagement. Some expected him to change his usual outfit for this special occasion, but he stuck to his favorite TDP color even on the big day. His wife too was seen in a very simple look, reflecting the family’s down-to-earth approach.
Reportedly, Nara Lokesh even teased Rama Naidu, asking why he was still wearing the yellow shirt. This only reinforced the fact that Naidu is a hardcore TDP loyalist who never misses an opportunity to show his love for the party.
This inspirational TDP leader is known as a man of the masses, approachable to both local leadership and the common public in Palakollu. His simplicity is already well-recognized — he is often seen traveling in ordinary trains for his commute. The same humility was once again on display at his daughter’s modest engagement ceremony.
