It is well known that the Indian state of Manipur was burning in 2023 due to violent clashes between two indigenous tribes. This outbreak resulted in severe human loss and suffering, with official numbers reporting around 260 deaths.

At that time, Prime Minister Modi and the NDA leadership at the Centre remained largely silent, giving time for the regional conflict to settle on its own.

Now, Modi has visited Manipur for the first time since the 2023 violence, arriving there a few hours ago. During the visit, he inaugurated development projects worth Rs 7,000 crore.

In his speech, Modi urged the people of Manipur to end violence and resolve issues peacefully so that the state can move forward with progress. He also met with victims of the violence, spent time with them, and assured full support from the government.

Acknowledging the criticism he faced earlier for remaining silent, Modi was more assertive this time, underlining his government’s commitment to the people of Manipur.
