Pawan Kalyan, Janasena chief and Andhra Pradesh Deputy CM, is proving once again that farmer concerns strike the deepest chord with him. While many leaders talk from a distance, Pawan is showing urgency in responding to problems at the very root level. The ongoing distress of coconut farmers in Konaseema is the latest example.
Relentless rains and seawater intrusion have damaged thousands of acres of plantations across nearly 13 villages, leaving farmers helpless. Konaseema coconut farmers facing this issue from decades, but no constructive solutions is provided by previous governments. Pawan, moved by the situation, made it clear on social media that he will not just watch from afar. He promised that right after Dasara, he himself will visit the affected areas with officials from irrigation, agriculture, and scientists from the Coconut Research Centre.
He assured farmers that losses will be assessed on the spot and support will be extended to them at the earliest. For the struggling coconut growers of Konaseema, this commitment has brought a glimmer of hope that their pain will not be ignored.
