Statistically, Andhra Pradesh is the leading exporter of seafood in India. As CM Chandrababu earlier reported, the state contributes nearly 80% of India’s shrimp exports, amounting to around ₹21,000 crore.
However, this export proposition is seriously affected by the tariffs that are imposed by the Donald Trump administration in the United States. This was brought up by a chief minister Chandrababu as well, as he wrote to the centre about a financial compensation package to help save the aqua industry in view of Trump’s unrelenting pressure.
While we have this situation on one side, Chief minister Chandrababu took the occasion to promote aqua food in the Assembly. He was very vocal about nurturing aqua food which would be very beneficial.
“I am very particular about my aqua food intake. I make sure that I take either fish or shrimp at least once a day. Aqua food is a very efficient protein supplement and must be consumed by everyone. Previously, we had promoted egg consumption to enhance protein absorption, and we must plan something similar with aqua food as well.” The CM said.
Previously, it was Chandrababu who carried the positive narrative for egg consumption and now, he plans something similar with aqua food as well. He even discussed the idea of providing aqua food in schools and colleges once a week.
