During the today question hour at assembly, Rajahmundry MLA and TDP senior leader Gorantla Butchaiah Chowdhary raised a question and commended the efforts of Lokesh over his role in success and progress for the development of the state in the last one year of NDA governance.

He mentioned that for years, government school children received poor-quality uniforms and belts, leaving parents and students unhappy. Under the leadership of Education Minister Nara Lokesh, this has completely changed. Today, children proudly wear good-quality uniforms and belts, and their joy is visible in every classroom. This improvement reflects Lokesh’s commitment to better governance and his care for even the smallest details that impact people’s lives.

Senior leader Butchiah, while appreciating Education Minister Nara Lokesh’s good work in improving school uniforms for children, made a heartfelt request to him on behalf of Cheneta textile workers. He explained how these hardworking weavers are struggling, some earning just ₹200 a day as their societies have collapsed. Butchiah urged Lokesh to support them by involving them in weaving school uniforms, which would give them steady work, government protection and restore dignity to Cheneta families.

In response to this, Lokesh affectionately calls out “Maa Butchaiah Thataha” garu, he mentions about the promise that he has given to these Cheneta textile weavers about the provision of electricity during the Padayatra and we as People’s government stood by it. He continues to say that there is quite a need for a structural policy change for this issue which cannot be just resolved by G.O.

Finally, Nara Lokesh fondly recalled Butchaiah Thatha, who has been with the Telugu Desam Party since its inception alongside Sr. NTR. Lokesh described him not just as a senior leader but as a mentor and grandfatherly figure, deeply respected by the entire Nara family. He shared how he grew up under Butchaiah’s guidance and learned valuable lessons in politics and public service. With this admiration, Lokesh announced that, together with the Finance Minister, an informal committee would be formed to draft a policy aimed at uplifting and securing the future of the Cheneta community.
