Possibly for the first time since the formation of the Andhra Pradesh Assembly, the house is running entirely with coalition members, while the opposition (YCP) is completely absent from the proceedings.
If anything, this has increased the responsibility of the NDA government representatives to be more accountable in the house. Chief Minister Chandrababu acknowledged this and was seen reprimanding ruling MLAs.
Reportedly, the Chief Minister was displeased with the fact that certain MLAs, like Bojjala Sudhir Reddy and Bonda Uma, brought up individualistic topics for discussion in the house. He made it very clear that there is no scope for deviation or personal commentary during proceedings.
Bonda Uma’s recent statement on the Pollution Control Board, which was unnecessarily blown out of proportion in the assembly, invited reprimands from the CM. Babu is said to have advised this senior MLA to be more vigilant and thoughtful about his choice of words.
“All the MLAs must be very careful about their choice of words in the assembly. I have been working 15 hours a day to reconstruct the government finances after the damage done by the previous YCP. The last thing I need now is for you to create a mess in the assembly,” Babu reportedly said.
