Nara Lokesh has strongly countered YS Jagan Mohan Reddy’s claims about a fake liquor racket in the state.
Jagan had accused the TDP government of turning Andhra Pradesh into a center for counterfeit liquor and blamed Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu for supporting private liquor syndicates. He referred to a recent incident in Annamayya district’s Mulakalacheruvu, alleging that TDP-linked leaders were behind an illegal liquor unit. Jagan claimed one in three liquor bottles in the state was fake and said the government was favoring private dealers over public safety.
Responding the next day, Lokesh dismissed Jagan’s charges as false and politically motivated. He said it was the TDP government that uncovered the racket and arrested those responsible, including two TDP leaders who were immediately suspended from the party.
Lokesh accused Jagan of hypocrisy, recalling how hundreds had died from spurious liquor during YSRCP’s previous rule. He cited the Jangareddygudem tragedy and reminded that Jagan’s government never punished those responsible. “You forgot your five years of misrule and now act like a moral judge,” Lokesh wrote on X.
His post quickly gained attention online, with TDP supporters praising his quick response and YSRCP members defending Jagan’s remarks.
