A few months ago, former TTD chairman Bhumana Karunakar Reddy made a bold claim that he still has “eyes” within the Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanam system. His statement raised eyebrows, as it suggested that a network still exists within the TTD even after the government transition.
Now, that comment is being looked at again after Karunakar Reddy recently revealed details about an internal TTD matter, a proposal from Coimbatore-based real estate firm G Square to construct a temple at their premises. According to him, this proposal has already reached the TTD Chairman and might soon get approval.
What surprised many is how Karunakar Reddy could access such specific and confidential information, which is usually restricted to only a handful of top officials, including the TTD Chairman and TTD’s governing body. This has sparked talk that a few loyalists of the previous administration might still be passing on updates from inside the TTD.
Meanwhile, TTD management has been quietly implementing internal reforms. In the past week alone, as many as 45 employees have been terminated, which reportedly includes some individuals accused of violating administrative norms.
On the political front, Karunakar Reddy continues to make statements targeting the current leadership. From the Goshala issue to allegations about queue-line mismanagement, he seems intent on turning every internal matter into a political debate. His latest criticism has been directed at TTD chairman B.R. Naidu, accusing him of neglecting pilgrim welfare.
For now, while TTD continues its cleanup and restructuring efforts, the big question remains, how is sensitive internal information still leaking out, and who exactly are the insiders feeding it?
