One of the legendary personality is produced by the Indian motherland is Sardar Vallabhai Patel. On the occasion of his 150th birth anniversary today, all of India is paying rich tributes and salutations to this iconic leader. 

Born on October 31, 1875 in Gujarat, Sardar Vallabhai Patel later studied law in England before returning to India and becoming a very successful lawyer here. 

The unable and unrelenting spirit of Vallabhai Patel earned him the “Sardar” tag after his active presence in the Satyagraha movement. He famously acknowledged this title after 1928, Satyagraha movement, and ever since he is being referred to as Sardar Vallabhai Patel. 

A defining chapter in India’s freedom sagaIt was after the triumphant Bardoli Satyagraha of 1928 that Vallabhbhai Patel was lovingly hailed as ‘Sardar’, the true leader of the people. His courage turned resistance into unity, and unity into strength.

Patel is also the first deputy prime minister of India and also the first Indian home minister of the country. He stands as a symbol of unity as he merged the otherwise controversial Kashmir province in India. Along with that, he merged 562 princely states in the country.

On the occasion of the 150th birth anniversary of Sardar Vallabhai Patel, Prime Minister Modi visited the statue of unity in Gujarat that celebrates the legacy of Patel. 

Taking the occasion, Modi stated “SoU is a monumental tribute to Sardar Patel and his vision towards India’s unity and strength. Standing tall as the world’s tallest statue, it is a symbol of national pride and collective resolve to fulfil Sardar Patel’s dreams.”
