As the final results of the Jubilee Hills by-poll were declared, the BRS suffered a major setback, failing to retain its sitting seat and losing decisively to Congress candidate Naveen Kumar Yadav. He secured a record-breaking majority of nearly 25,000 votes, the highest ever margin in the constituency’s electoral history.
Former BRS leader Kavitha, who recently distanced herself from the party, reacted strongly to the outcome. Taking to X (formerly Twitter), she posted a sharp comment saying “Karma hits back”, indirectly taking aim at the BRS leadership and KTR in particular. Kavitha’s pointed remark has added fuel to current heat within BRS after the humiliating loss with many interpreting it as a direct counter to KTR’s earlier statements and a sign of the widening rift between former colleagues.
With Congress celebrating a historic win and BRS facing heavy criticism, the by-poll outcome has clearly reshaped the political mood in Hyderabad. Her post has quickly gained attention and sparked intense discussion across the netizens.
The result is being seen as a humiliating blow for the BRS, especially in a high-profile urban constituency like Jubilee Hills where the party held great influence over the years as there were times when Congress did not even win a single seat in the whole Hyderabad urban region. It could be said the massive swing reflects voter dissatisfaction with BRS in spite of a very high octane campaign that involved burning topics like HYDRA and hints at deeper internal troubles within the party.
