On Friday morning, while the Tirupati Flying Squad was conducting checks at Pulicharla, a Tavera vehicle sped away suspiciously. When forest officials chased the vehicle, they headed quickly towards Bengaluru. Based on the information provided by the forest department officials, the villagers of Appinapalli in Chittoor district chased the vehicle.
As a result, the driver stopped the vehicle to the side and fled. When forest department officials and police inspected the vehicle, they found 10 red sandalwood logs being illegally transported.
The forest officials brought this information to the attention of Deputy Chief Minister and Minister for Forests and Environment Pawan Kalyan. Reportedly Kalyan was super impressed with this incident and appreciated the locals and authorities.
Reportedly, the Appinapalli villagers stated that they chased the vehicle of the log thieves with the intention of providing their support to the measures being taken by Deputy Chief Minister Pawan Kalyan to stop the illegal transportation of red sandalwood.
